Why do 10% of 16 to 24 year olds in Australia identify as LGBTQ+ while only 2% of people aged 55 to 64 do?

In one of our first thought leadership articles on the LGBTQ+ community and board diversity, one of our Directors, Lesley Traverso has reflected on the recent release of Australian Bureau of Statistics estimates of Australia's LGBTQ+ population. The head-line figure was 4.5% of Australians over aged 16 identify as members of the LGBTQ+ community but the age breakdown poses a lot of questions.
